As most of you know my husband Danny is almost finished with his Master's degree in higher education at seminary. He only has 6 classes left till he can graduate and then he wants to pursue a doctorate in Philosophy with the hopes of one day teaching on the college or seminary level. He used to be a math teacher and teaching/shepherding came so naturally to him. He will be great at preparing young men and women for the ministry. He feels a longing and a desire deep within his bones to do this and I wholeheartedly support this passion and calling upon his life.
He has been taking classes for his Master's for 8 years now. In fact tonight he reminded me that he moved here to begin seminary 8 years ago this week. That means next week will be our 8 year anniversary of meeting! Crazy. We met the very first day of orientation as we were both beginning students. When we got married I stopped taking classes and decided to work full time. A year later we got pregnant with Miss. M. Well now we also have Miss. L. and Miss. E. But I promise we are DONE! = ) Well I guess we could adopt. Ha. So the past 8 years has been quite the journey for both of us.
I felt led to write to ask if there might be any out there that would be willing to donate any money towards this calling that he feels the Lord has laid on his life. We are now more than ready for us to move on from the master's program and for Danny to progress more quickly through school. The tuition for one Master's level class is about $600 - money which we simply do not have at this time. Anyway you do the budget it is just not there. Period. Many seminary students get support from their "home" churches - the state they are originally from. Danny has sought this assistance from the church he grew up in but they will only support seminary students financially if you can somewhat guarantee that you will go back and do your full time ministry at that church. If he is going to teach on the college or seminary level that wouldn't quite work.
Therefore if you so feel led we have established a Paypal account ("Donate" button on right) specifically for anyone who wishes to donate to his schooling. Any amount small or large is more than welcome. We realize many who read this are also seminary students and so you all can just ignore this. ; )
If you would like to read some words from Danny on the matter you can read that here: http://dannymcdonald.wordpress.com/can-you-help/.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
