"This is a message to my generation...but first let me take a selfie!"

Dear Daughters,

Some excerpts from a You Tube video are in quotes below. The video I posted is by a young woman and her words convicted me. Daughters, may you never need twelve "likes" to make you feel pretty. You are pretty because God made your body and formed you to be just as you are. HE loves you and delights in YOU His creation. It only matters what He thinks of you not anyone else. Compare yourselves to Christ not the girl on Instagram. Choose to stand out and make a difference for Christ.

I love you,
Momma

"This is a message to my generation, but first, let me take a selfie! Hashtag, selfie, YOLO, twerk. Just a few of the words that have consumed our daily lives...We care more about the amount of likes on an Instagram photo than the amount of LOVE that we show. And we turn on the t.v. the second we get home yet we turn our head when we see someone ALONE someone LOST, someone HURTING. But we're too busy rewording a tweet. And we live in this nice bubble where our life is so sweet, self sufficient, self serving. We say we want to change the world but all we do is change our status. It's not surprising how walls of insecurity are rising when we're constantly COMPARING our back stories to the highlights of everyone else's lives. I see girls everyday who would rather die because they see themselves as worthless. They think their life has no purpose because who could compare to the image of beauty and vogue that seemingly is perfect. You have a voice that should be heard. You want to be HAPPY and LOVE yourself more? How about stop focusing on YOU and start opening a door, covering a meal, live your life in a way that the person you portray is not a version of who the WORLD tells you to be. The very best version is the one who can break free of all the influence and find the inner confidence. Once you find that you will find that you don't need more than twelve LIKES to feel pretty. You wont a self tweet to get others pity. I have this vision that our generation breaks the stereotypes of RELIGION. That we break down the WALLS of judgement and pride. Instead with arms open welcome EVERYONE to a place where we can do what God really wants. Loving each other and LOVING Him. Maybe social media sets the social norm but I for one won't be FROZEN in a generation I've been CHOSEN to TRANSFORM." Molly Kate Kestner
