Prayer Request for a Friend

I am posting a note and picture from our dear friend we refer to as GrandBob. He has requested prayer for his brother Tom who has throat cancer. Please read below and be in prayer for this family. Thank you!

"Hi Angie,

Here is a photo of my brother, Tom Lutz, and his bride Janice. They live in Eugene, Oregon and were married two weeks ago after a 24 year courtship. I believe that they finally moved ahead with their marriage after Tom learned that he had throat cancer, about one month ago.

It began as a sore throat with a growth that looked like a swollen tonsil. Upon going to his doctor and having some tests they learned that this was a form of cancer and that it has moved to his near by lymph nodes.

Tom is beginning two weeks of radiation treatment sometime within the next two weeks, along with a 7 week chemotherapy treatment regimen. He just had to have 5 teeth pulled to prevent reflection of the radiation beam by these teeth! They are creating a custom "mask" for him to wear during the radiation treatment to minimize radiation effects to nearby organs. This does not sound like fun.

His doctors tell him that they believe that they believe they can cure him; but this is an aggressive, fast-spreading cancer that has already gotten a good foothold. Tom has told me that he has been down on his knees praying about this often since learning of his condition and asked me to help if I could. I believe it is an opportunity for miracle healing. So I'm sending this note and photo to you in the hope that you will share it with your friends who pray for those who are ill.

Tom is 56 years old and otherwise in very good health. His attitude is positive and he believes that his otherwise good health and the support of being newly married will aid in his chances of recovery.
