I'm really not into bribery, but when Nate was about 3 and staying at the grandparents, his Grandma B. gave him a roll of coins (nickels, I think) and told him that they were his if he would stop sucking his thumb. But everytime she saw him sucking his thumb he would have to give her a nickel. It cost him about two nickels before he decided he wanted the money more than he wanted his thumb.
It didn't seem to leave any scars so I tried it with Ben when he was around 3 (he was a two-finger sucker) and had equal success.
I honestly don't remember how Joel quit, but he eventually gave up the habit too.
heather told me yesterday that she had to bribe josiah to quit, too! apparently it works!!
i wish kate sucked her thumb! it seems easier to utilize than a pacifier! it can't get lost, it's always available (like in the night) and even if their hands aren't super clean it seems to be cleaner than a pacifier could be!
also, an update about kate...she does not have an ear infection but is apparently staying up at night because she is teething on her top gums! i hope the doctor is right! and that she sprouts some more soon so i can get some rest! :)
it was good to see you yesterday! i'm sorry that the weather/having to head straight to the doctor's office afterward kept me from getting to chat more with you! glad to hear all your girlies are feeling better! all these pictures of them are super sweet!!!
