Update on Nathan McLean:
"Friends,
We need some big time prayer support: Nathan has dozens of lesions of infection in his brain: type, cause unknown at this point, many doctors coming to see him today: neuro, optho, infectious, etc. We need some prayer.
Brad
11:30 update: we seem to be getting a break on the fever (11.5 hours since last Tylenol dose), he is definately in pain when he has to be moved, MRI indicates brain pressure OK to proceed with lumbar puncture at which time pressure reading will confirm if they can proceed with the spinal tap (my understanding/not sure about this), we have been advised it is most likely a serious culprit (bacteria, fungus, yeast) to have escaped all current medicines he is on, doctors (Dr. Cheerva) lovingly/graciously cannot speculate on cause/source or prognosis. Severity of the situation was made clear. Amanda and I are completely fine with where things are. Nathan is a good boy and the Lord Jesus has his eye fixed on him."
Update from Mama--I cannot tell you all how overwhelmed we are by your support of our family. I cannot believe how many people have signed our site today saying "we are praying for you right now". What a blessing. Many days I struggle because I choose to lean on my own understanding instead of trusting in the Lord. But today, you, my brothers and sister in Christ, have pointed me back to Him over and over. Thank you. God has been faithful to us, and you are being faithful to Him by your prayers and support of us. Thanks to those who cried and prayed with us today--in person and on the phone (I cry when I read your posts and emails, too). God bless each of you.6:45 pm - Some big medical horsepower cranked on behalf of the little man today. So far, things are serious but not irrecoverable (Dr. Bertolone looked us straight in the eye and said "This is a setback - just a setback." Until the cause and nature of the lesions are identified, treatment is by hypothesis (i.e. a lot of medicines). Consensus is leaning toward fungal infection. If spinal tap cultures don't show something soon, biopsy of one of the lesions is on the radar. Nathan is stable but "compromised" as he likes to say. Thank you very much for all your prayers. Reach the Day.
