Skin Deep

I just stumbled upon this article and found it refreshing. It was a good reminder to me, being a Mom to 3 daughters, to be less concerned with my outward appearance and most concerned with my inward state of being. Or rather am I putting the emphasis on my outward appearance/material possessions... or on seeking to be more like Christ? Honestly it is rarely the latter. In an interview with Amy Grant she stated that the following poem by Audrey Hepburn hangs above her window:

"For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his or
her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge you'll
never walk alone." -- Audrey Hepburn

I may just copy that and hang it by my kitchen window as a needed daily reminder to seek to have inward beauty before outward.

Hey Angie! Merry Christmas to you all. We are finishing up school this week and are WAY behind on the Christmas letter and stuff. Inner beauty . . . homeschooling tends to expose the lack of time spent there. I am much in need of being transformed by the renewing of my mind . . . a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. May this new year find you growing in grace and Christ-likeness more and more each day!
In love and friendship ~ Jan
